Meet Celena Simms, But please call her Pinky
Celena "Pinky" Simms
CEO/Artist Manager/Radio Tracker
Celena Simms, professionally known as Pinky, is the founder and CEO of Black Mountain KC Music & Media LTD, also known as Black Mountain Music & Media. Her entry into the music industry began in 2012 as a Street Team Leader for a high school friend in the country music scene. What started as a grassroots promotional effort quickly evolved into a career, as Pinky began managing social media accounts and building her skill set under the mentorship of a Nashville-based industry professional.
Pinky’s educational background in Psychology and Social Work, combined with over a decade of experience in high-risk youth work, family mediation, and administrative management, has equipped her with a rare blend of strategic thinking, emotional intelligence, and organizational expertise. These strengths laid the foundation for the development of Black Mountain Music & Media—now one of Canada’s leading international radio tracking and promotion companies, reaching over 10,000 radio stations and shows worldwide.
She has successfully promoted and tracked releases for a roster of respected artists including Gord Bamford, Garrett Gregory, JJ Voss, Teagan Littlechief, Will Ardell, and Dallas Alexander. Through these campaigns, her clients have earned between 900 to 1,100 radio adds per release, with standout campaigns such as Dallas Alexander’s “Can’t Blame My Bloodline” (1,167 adds), Will Ardell’s “Songs in the Dark” (1,026), Ron A. McNeill (1,048), and Garrett Gregory (1,100).
Her industry reach extends globally, having developed key relationships with influential programmers including Kath at ABC Country and Justin at KIX Country in Australia, as well as booking agents across Europe, the UK (BBC), the Netherlands, and Latin America. In 2024, Pinky was appointed the official Canadian representative for Star Central, Australia’s prominent radio distribution and tracking company, further expanding her clients’ access to international markets.
Pinky’s achievements have been recognized with multiple accolades, including ISSA Promoter of the Year in 2022 and 2024, and finalist nominations in both 2023 and at the Holland Red Carpet Awards. She was selected for the Music Incubator Program for Managers, a component of Canada’s Music Export Initiative, where she received global mentorship and networking opportunities that have elevated her ability to secure international tour bookings for her artists.
An active contributor to the music community, Pinky has served as a judge for the Westside Daze Battle of the Bands, the YYC Music Awards (since 2022), and the BC Country Music Awards. She is also a proud member of CARAS and the JUNO Awards voting committee, contributing to the recognition and elevation of Canadian talent at the national level.
She currently manages Teagan Littlechief, a multi-award-winning Cree artist who earned SCMA Female Artist of the Year (2024), SCMA Indigenous Artist of the Year (2022–2024), and SASK Music’s Contemporary Indigenous Artist of the Year (2025).
Widely respected for her professionalism, integrity, and unwavering work ethic, Pinky continues to advocate for Canadian and Indigenous artists on the global stage—helping them build sustainable careers through authentic storytelling and strategic exposure.
